The trail to the summit of Gigilos (at 2080m) is one of the most beautiful trails in Crete! The summit is located on the west side of the White Mountain range. Because of its location, the summit of Gigilos is the most accessible summit in the range. The views along the walk, ascending from the plateau of Omalos, are mesmerizing. You can see the Gorge of Samaria and the gorge of Tripiti. The hike is moderate in terms of difficulty, while in some parts it is quite difficult. However, once you reach the top the view will be rewarding! Chania and the Aegean Sea can be seen to the North, the Libyan Sea and the island of Gavdos to the South. To the East, across the gorge of Samaria you see Pachnes (2453m) and the central White Mountains!
